PSA Technician Bootcamp 2026 Recap
Featuring Director of Marketing and Communications Emily Boulton, meet the PSA Technician Bootcamp class of 2026 and hear their highlights from the week.
From Sept. 21-25, PSA hosted its inaugural PSA Technician Bootcamp in Westminster, Colorado, bringing together technicians from across the security and systems integration industry for a week of professional development, industry certifications and networking.
Designed to invest in the people who keep the industry moving forward, the event gave attendees the opportunity to earn certifications from leading PSA technology partners, strengthen their technical expertise and connect with fellow technicians and industry professionals.
During the day, attendees participated in certification training, and in the evenings, PSA hosted networking events that encouraged attendees to build relationships, share experiences and enjoy time together outside the classroom.
The result was a week focused on learning, collaboration and the continued growth of the industry’s technical workforce.
Building Skills Through Industry Certifications
A central focus of the PSA Technician Bootcamp was providing technicians with access to valuable training and certification opportunities from PSA’s leading technology partners. Throughout the week, attendees participated in certifications for:
AMAG Symmetry Essentials
Hanwha Vision Video Professional Certification
Johnson Controls C-CURE 9000 Installer Maintainer
LenelS2 OnGuard Fundamentals
Milestone BriefCam Partner Training
Gallagher Access Technician
Radionix (formerly Bosch) G Series Certification
By bringing training opportunities together in one place, PSA aimed to make professional development more accessible while creating opportunities for technicians to learn directly from technology partners and their peers.
Connecting Beyond the Classroom: Evening Networking Events
While education was at the heart of PSA Technician Bootcamp, relationship-building was another essential part of the experience. Throughout the week, PSA brought attendees together for activities designed to encourage conversation, create connections and celebrate the people behind the industry.
Monday, Sept. 21: Welcome Reception
The week kicked off with a welcome reception sponsored by Windy City Wire. The gathering gave attendees a chance to enjoy food and drinks, meet fellow technicians and technology partners and settle in for the week ahead.
It was the perfect opportunity to begin building connections that would continue throughout the event.
Tuesday, Sept. 22: Barnette Blackjack Royale
On Tuesday, attendees put their game faces on for Barnette Blackjack Royale, an evening featuring live dealers, poker games and a magician. Tuesday also marked the first round of the Trove Build-Out Challenge, sponsored by Altronix, Hanwha Vision and Windy City Wire, where technicians went head-to-head to complete a Trove build-out, with cleanliness, speed and accuracy determining the results.
The challenge brought a little friendly competition to the week while highlighting the technical skill and attention to detail that are essential to the job.
Wednesday, Sept. 23: Special Ops - Game Night
The fun continued on Wednesday with Special Ops: Game Night, featuring yard games such as cornhole, cup pong, arcade basketball and more. The evening gave attendees another opportunity to unwind, share a few laughs and strengthen the connections formed throughout the week.
Wednesday also brought the final round of the Trove Build-Out Challenge. After a head-to-head, fast-paced build-out, Terry Huss (SAGE Integration) emerged as the winner and took home a $500 gift card, with Joshua Mays (Pavion) as the runner-up, earning $250.
Congratulations to Terry and all the technicians who participated in the challenge!
Developing the Skills That Make a Difference: Customer Service for Technicians Workshop
Technical expertise is essential to success in the security and systems integration industry, but delivering an exceptional customer experience requires another important set of skills.
To help technicians strengthen those abilities, PSA Head of Learning and Development Mary O’Sullivan led the Customer Service for Technicians Workshop during the final portion of the event. The hands-on workshop focused on practical ways to improve customer service, better meet customer needs and resolve conflict. Through live role-play exercises based on relevant workplace situations, attendees had the opportunity to practice their responses and gain experience they could apply in real-world scenarios.
CXO Candice Aragon discusses with CEO and President Matt Barnette the value and “why” behind PSA Technician Bootcamp.
The workshop reinforced an important message: Success in the field depends not only on knowing the technology, but also on communicating effectively, building trust and finding solutions for customers.
Investing in the Next Generation of Industry Talent
The PSA Technician Bootcamp was an opportunity to invest in the people who make the security and systems integration industry successful. By bringing technicians, educators and technology partners together, PSA created an environment where attendees could expand their technical knowledge, develop their professional skills and build relationships with others who share a commitment to the industry.
PSA sincerely thanks AMAG, Altronix, Gallagher, Hanwha Vision, HID, IML, VICON and Windy City Wire for sponsoring and helping make the inaugural PSA Technician Bootcamp possible!
What’s Next for PSA Technician Training?
PSA will continue to offer opportunities for technicians to build their skills, earn certifications and connect with industry peers. Stay tuned for the upcoming inaugural Virtual PSA Technician Bootcamp coming soon in January 2027, followed by PSA TEC 2027 in April!
