The theme of TEC 2017 is “Powering What’s Possible.” We gave this phrase to several people who are involved in TEC in a variety of ways – from PSA employees to TEC attendees, speakers and exhibitors. They were asked to share what the phrase means to them and how the theme ties into TEC 2017.

What is power? Is it the ability to lead people? To take command and control of a situation? Or is power that stuff that comes out of the wall to give your devices the energy they need to operate?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, you are right. Power is everything and everywhere. You have some yourself, and you use it all the time. The thing about power, though, is that it’s fleeting and ethereal. Power can be given to you, earned by you, stripped from you, or allowed to dissipate. In this fast-paced world, power is handed off and traded constantly, and it’s important to keep yourself charged with the latest information and technology. When a customer asks you a tricky question, there’s no better feeling than having the power to give them the answer they need.

You know that little battery icon on your phone? The one that always seems to read “29%” even though you JUST had it on the charger an hour ago? Yeah, that one. Imagine that’s you, and the battery level is the knowledge you have on hand to deal with any situation at any time.

2017 brings with it an incredible amount of new technology and the challenges that will come with the new tech. This can involve everything from the latest in hardware and physical products to software and cyber security, along with robotics and unmanned aerial devices.
